Prestigious award to Jens Häggström

Professor Jens Häggström has received a prestigious award for outstanding scientific work.

WSAVA stands for the World Small Animal Veterinary Association, an organisation that gathers veterinarians from around the world working with companion animals. The prize was awarded in connection with the association's annual conference.

Jens Häggström, who works at SLU and as a heart specialist at UDS, was awarded a prize for scientific work in the pet food sector. The prize is awarded to a person who has significantly contributed to increased knowledge about diseases related to the cause, identification, treatment and reduction of diseases in companion animals. The award, which is WSAVA's most prestigious award, draws attention to exceptional contributions to veterinary research, and Jens Häggström is awarded the prize for his long-term research in cardiology and internal medicine.

The prize ceremony took place in a crowded hall with around 1,500 participants in Copenhagen, in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Marie of Denmark. In connection with the award ceremony, Jens Häggström was invited to hold a lecture which he chose to call "Does it matter".
