Workshop – Developing a compelling VR grant proposal

The Swedish Research Council (VR), the nation’s premier funder, supports basic research in all areas with an annual budget of SEK 7 billion. VR’s annual call for project grants receives special attention from researchers based in Sweden. In this half-day, interactive seminar/workshop the Grants Office and experienced SLU researchers will delve into VR’s guidelines, expectations and evaluation criteria, and provide tips and techniques for developing strong proposals. The seminar is open for researchers at all levels and especially those who are considering applying in 2021.

The seminar will take run from 13:00 to 16:00 on 28 January 2021.

PROGRAMME

  • Maximising the chances of success: applicant and evaluator perspectives
    Panel discussion involving SLU researchers Gabriella Lindgren, Sara Hallin, Patrick Svensson and Åsa Lankinen. Moderated by Ninad Bondre and Caroline Grabbe, research coordinators at the Grants Office.

  • Crafting the proposal
    This mini-workshop will include theory, examples and discussion focusing on:
    • VR guidelines and evaluation criteria
    • the big picture (frame and narrative)
    • the individual proposal sections.
