Important future issues for the faculty and how I can contribute:

With 20 years of experience as an internationally recognized leader in molecular plant sciences and a dedicated teacher, I see my role on the NJ faculty board as an opportunity to contribute in two key areas: research and education.

Education: Addressing the recent decline in student enrollment at NJ.

Research: Upholding the highest standards of research and education at NJ, with a particular focus on supporting early-career researchers.

Personal reflections:

I firmly believe that basic research is the foundation of true innovation and the key to addressing some of the most pressing challenges we face, such as the consequences of climate change on agriculture and forestry, in a sustainable way. At NJ, we have the responsibility to provide a scientific environment that fosters interaction and creates synergies between the three pillars on which SLU rests: education, research, and environmental monitoring and assessment.
