Ola Hall new member in the advisory board

Published: 07 March 2023

We welcome Ola Hall as a new member in the AgriFoSe2030 advisory board. Ola Hall is Senior Lecturer at Lund University in Sweden and has a background in Human Geography.

I am a docent and currently Head of Department for Human Geography in Lund, Sweden. I have a PhD from Stockholm University in geography, special focus human geography. Since time immemorial, I have worked with remote sensing and GIS linked to social science. For almost 10 years I have worked together with researchers in dev and especially Africa. For example, we have been working since 2015 with drones to calculate yields at farm/village level in both Ghana and Kenya in projects linked to the yield gap problem. Since 2020, I have lead a couple of projects with the aim of measuring poverty using satellite images and machine learning, projects that also are connected to the African continent.

On pages 32-33 there is a new article from LU about what I do (Swedish): https://www.lu.se/sites/www.lu.se/files/2023-02/LUM%201%202023.pdf

I am really looking forward to be a part of the AgriFoSe2030 advisory board and I think I can contribute with, among other things, a (further) interdisciplinary perspective (and a spatial one) and some information about how technology development in the field looks like.
