New Chair for Scholarship Committee

The faculty board has decided to appoint Anders Larsolle from the Department of Energy and Technology as the new chair of the Scholarship Committee from November 1, 2023, to March 31, 2025. The current chairperson has retired.

There is substantial capital in the funds and scholarships at the disposal of NJ, and the trend is that the available funds often cannot be fully distributed due to the regulations in various funds. This is, of course, regrettable and the subject of efforts to better inform about scholarships.

Principles of Grant Allocation

The faculty board has determined the principles for grant allocation that will apply in 2024. These principles do not change significantly from year to year. However, the amounts allocated vary depending on how the SLU Board distributes the grants to the various faculties. Preliminary amounts have been communicated to all departments. When the SLU Board has made its decision on grants for 2024, it is the dean who determines the amounts to be allocated to the departments.

Selection of a New Nominating Committee

The Faculty Board has tasked the dean with inviting the faculty's eligible voters to nominate members for a new nomination committee for the upcoming election of a new Faculty Board that will take office on January 1, 2025. The decision on the new nominating committee should be made no later than May 15. The nominating committee will formally take office on June 1, 2024.

New Associate Professors at NJ

The Faculty Board appointed the following persons as associate professors:

  • Camilla Eriksson in the field of Rural Development in Sweden and Europe,
  • Claudia von Brömssen in the field of Biometrics,
  • Dalia Abdelfattah in the field of Technology,
  • Fernando Puente Sanchez in the field of Biology,
  • Stina Powell in the field of Environmental communication,
  • Marcus Wallin in the field of Environmental analysis.

Evaluation about SLU Fältforsk

In September 2021, the faculty board decided to assess various specific initiatives funded by the faculty. In January this year, Erik Karltun from the Department of Soil and Environment and Andy Gregory from Rothamsted Research Limited in the United Kingdom were appointed to evaluate SLU Fältforsk and SLU Long-term Field Experiments, respectively. The report for the evaluation of SLU Fältforsk was discussed during the faculty board meeting on October 26. The report for the evaluation of SLU Long-term Field Experiments is expected to be submitted in a few weeks.
