Swedish fish can be grown sustainably - from north to south!

There´s a lot going on in the field of aquaculture for the moment. Sweden will soon release a new national strategy for fishing and aquaculture in place. And during spring, an action plan for Swedish aquaculture will be launched. Some of Sweden's leading researchers and entrepreneurs in aquaculture have together summarized recommendations for a sustainable aquaculture - to be used in the upcoming work to realize the goals in the strategy.

As a summary of this autumn's webinar series in aquaculture Sustainable from north to south, some of the Sweden's leading researchers and entrepreneurs in aquaculture have agreed on a number of recommendations for a sustainable aquaculture - to be used in the upcoming work to realize the goals in the new national strategy for fishing and aquaculture as well as for the action plan for Swedish aquaculture.

Summarized recommendations

The main message from the webinar series is:"every technology in its place", meaning that it is the characteristics and conditions of the place that determine what is the best possible technology. The feed issue, which is central to sustainable aquaculture, is also taken into consideration in this recommendations.

The conclusion is that it is possible to increase the production of environmentally sustainable fish in both northern and southern of Sweden.
