SLU visit to Montpellier to discuss collaboration and impact

Published: 22 February 2018

SLU's Pro-Vice Chancellor for International Relations Ylva Hillbur, together with Anders Malmer and Elisabeth Rajala (both from SLU Global) travelled to Montpellier, France in January to strengthen the collaboration and discuss impact with the CGIAR (Consultative group for International Agricultural research) system office, and with the French Agricultural Research and International Cooperation Organization (CIRAD).

The CGIAR has 15 research centers in Arica and Asia with more than 8,000 scientists, researchers, and technicians, and CIRAD has 1650 staff, including 800 researchers working in three continents in more than 100 countries. The two organizations and SLU share a common goal - to achieve sustainable development of the agricultural sector in low-income countries.

The two-day visit resulted in fruitful discussions on several topics such as how we can strengthen the collaboration between our organizations, strategies to increase collaboration in upcoming EU calls, and how to measure impact. To further explore and concretize different possibilities, representatives from both CGIAR and CIRAD plan to visit SLU during the spring.
