Marianne C.E. Gillion
Presentation
I support researchers through the various pre-award phases of funding applications—from identifying relevant opportunities, to articulating ideas and crafting proposals. My focus is mainly on applications to the Wallenberg Foundation, the European Research Council, and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. I work with individuals to create compelling narratives that combine scientific rigour and accessible communication. My multidisciplinary background allows me to provide additional, targeted advice pertaining to gender aspects in research, and on science communication through creative partnerships. As a research coordinator, my goal is to help academics navigate international funding landscapes in order to build successful, sustainable careers.
My working language is English, but I also have some knowledge of German, Dutch, and Swedish.
Background
My work is informed by my experiences as a researcher in the humanities and social sciences. I received a PhD in Music from the University in Manchester in 2015. As a postdoctoral fellow, I held funding from the Research Foundation – Flanders (BE), Vinnova (SE), and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (EU). My collaborations include involvement with a National Endowment for the Humanities project (USA), and a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Partnership Grant – Stage Two (CA). During my postdoctoral years, I developed interests in research policy and support, and began developing my skills in these areas. In spring 2024, I joined the Grants Office at SLU as their newest research coordinator.
