Welcome to an exciting dialogue between high school students and experts on how to cultivate plants for food in a sustainable way. This webinar will give students new knowledge and new perspectives on the Green revolution which saved a billion people from starvation, a revolution that was given the Nobel Peace Prize and is today debated. Based on current knowledge, how can we develop agriculture and how do we grow food in a sustainable way?
What does sustainable food production mean and what are the challenges? What is the Green Revolution and who was Norman Borlaug who received the Nobel Peace Prize for his discoveries? Join us for a rewarding hour with participants from the World Food Prize Foundation and listen to Hanna Ohm and Georg Carlsson, researchers at SLU. They will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the Green Revolution, how to think today about large-scale cultivation and at the same time go in a direction that does not consume the earth's resources.
Participating in the discussion are:
Morgan Day from the World Food Prize Foundation
Georg Carlsson, Professor at the Department of Biosystems and Technology
Hanna Ohm, Doctoral Student at the Department of Plant Breeding
Time and place: 16.00-17.00 CET, Zoom.
