We would like to say a big thank you to Andreas Bryhn and a warm welcome to Örjan Östman, who will take over the role as the new director of studies for undergraduate and graduate education at SLU Aqua.

As director of studies, I will mainly work to increase the education at our department and promote our courses and possible master thesis projects. I will also be responsible for the quality of our education and that there are teachers with high competence. I am also going to lead the department's Coordination Group for Education where we assist the management team in educational issues and work for the development and quality of our education. I will also be in contact with students and guide them in study related issues, says Örjan.

At SLU Aqua, we are currently offering a course at the undergraduate level: "Where have all the fishes gone? Sustainability perspectives on contemporary fisheries". The course provides a broad overview of current and future challenges for sustainable fishing. We also offer two courses at advanced level: "Ecology for Fish Management" and "Principles of Fisheries Science".

Today we do not have so much education at our department, which is why there are good opportunities to focus on quality instead. Hopefully, this can make our courses more popular and at the same time contribute to us recieving more education opportunites at SLU Aqua, Örjan continues.

Previously, I have been teaching and also been course coordinator on many different courses, both at SLU and other universities. Now I look forward to having the opportunity to develop our education throughout the department. Since I am located at Ultuna, I also hope that our education will become more visible to others at SLU, Örjan concludes.
