Collaborating partners from Mozambique at SLU

Published: 13 September 2022

SLU is actively engaged in bilateral cooperation with Mozambique, financed by Sida. Recently, partners from the University of Eduardo Mondlane (UEM) visited SLU for one week, to further develop the collaboration. It was the first time the whole team could get together in real life since 2019. Hence, the atmosphere was high when arriving at SLU in Uppsala.

The week concisted of work meetings organised within the project “Quality assurance of research and post-graduate training” (QuART) as a part of the UEM-Sweden bilateral programme 2017-2022.

The overall aim of the cooperation is to strengthen the capacity to generate scientific knowledge and increase research output and innovation for national and regional development in line with the UEM vision and mission of transforming itself to a research-led university. The Quality Assurance sub-programme is therefore of key importance and aims at building capacity to ensure the quality of training and research.

- It was an intense but fruitful week. Apart from the Steering committee meeting, three working groups (two on leadership training and one on research funding) were finalizing manuals to prepare for courses that will be held at UEM during the autumn, says Katarina Börling, coordinator for SLU's part of the programme.

- The project management team had good discussions with several units at both SLU and Uppsala university. We now look forward to two more year of collaboration, Katarina continues.
