Workshopserie in Modern Plant Breeding

SLU Grogrund promotes research education and competence development for professionals in the workshop series Methods in Modern Plant Breeding.

During autumn 2021 there will be three workshops in English on methods in modern plant breeding. Target groups for the workshops are PhD students, postdoctors and professionals.

Workshops in the series Methods in Modern Plant Breeding have the following themes:

  • 2021-10-08 at 8.30-12.00 Association mapping
    deadline for application September 24

  • 2021-11-12 at 8.30-12.00 Genomic selection
    deadline for application October 29

  • 2021-12-03 at 8.30-12.00 Genome editing
    deadline for application November 19

The main teachers are associate professors Larisa Gustavsson, Aakash Chawade and Per Hofvander from the Department of Plant Breeding. Target groups are PhD students, postdoctors and professionals in organizations related to SLU Grogrund. You can participate in one or all workshops according to your interest. PhD students can get 1.5 credit points when participating all three. Send your application at latest two weeks before each workshop to SLU Grogrund’s education coordinator: salla.marttila@slu.se.

Workshops are digital, every time Friday at 8.30-12 and given in English. There is no fee.

The workshop series supports SLU Grogrund’s aim to join forces from academia and business sector to develop competence in long term, in order to secure access to crop plant varieties for a sustainable and competitive agricultural and horticultural production throughout Sweden.
