Prefektbrev KV, vecka 45

Published: 16 November 2020

I wish you all a nice weekend!

As a nice reminder that we are slowly approaching Christmas, I can announce that this year, for the first time in many years, we will be handing out Christmas presents (to those who want to). Unfortunately, there will not be a Christmas dinner at Norrlands this year, which is why we decided on a Christmas present. Sussie will send out more information on how we handle the practical stuff, but the idea is that you can choose between a gift card for books, gift card for flowers or decline the offer.

Another clear reminder that we are approaching Christmas and New Year is that we have now begun the budget dialogues to prepare the submission of KVs budget, on the 20th of November. As a small reminder to you subject managers, we also want to discuss your ‘strategisk verksamhetsplan’ for 2021 at the budget dialogue.

During the past week, we have noticed three Covid-positive students (DSS at VFU and vet. Years 3 and 4), but they have not given rise to any further cases that we know of.

On Wednesday, it was the prefect's council where we mostly talked about how we can increase the research volume at the faculty. This is a theme that we will also address at the next meeting with KV's strategic council in December. At this meeting a clinically active professor from Uppsala University will also be involved and give her perspectives.

Due to the recently decided extension of special Covid -19 restrictions for Uppsala County, SLU Security has decided to cancel all SBA programs in Uppsala on 25 and 27 November and the 1st and 3rd of December canceled. For us, this applies to fire safety training.

As for borrowing equipment, there are now computer screens to borrow at VHC - contact Elinora. Loans of office chairs have not yet been resolved, but we have good hopes.

The vaccination slots for influenza are all booked and Länshälsan is looking at the possibility of giving us more slots, but currently needs to wait for their vaccine supply before they can give us more opportunities.

Today a meeting was held with the joint project management team where we first looked in the rearview (what happened during the past year) and then looked ahead. Among other things, I emphasized the need for us not to forget our basic tasks in all engaging discussions and groups.

Next week will be devoted almost exclusively to budget dialogues, which I look forward to. This means a good review of our business and progressive discussions.

I end with two happy messages. First of all, you are welcomed to nailing on 20/11 at 14.00, when Elin Manell nails her dissertation "Refinement of porcine models in diabetes", and last but not least I would like to congratulate Odd Höglund who has been awarded U-share funds for a postdoc . Good luck to both!

During week 46, I will be on site every day.

I wish you all a nice weekend!

Nils
