News from Head of Department

Advent greetings from the Prefect!

During the week, me and the administration have prepared for next week's budget dialogue with the faculty, where we will discuss KV's budget and KV's ability to fulfill its tasks.

On Wednesday, I held a meeting with the “ledningsgrupp” and the subjects heads to discuss the organizational change I mentioned in last week's letter. We had many good discussions and I will move forward. Attached to this week's letter is a “summary of responsibilities” that I will submit to union negotiations next week (in Swedish). Please contact me if you have any ideas or opinions.

On Thursday, we had “ledningsråd” at KV and discussed, among other things, the development of the construction project "Bulan" which is still going according to plan. The dog stables will be renovated again in 2020 due to moisture damage and in addition some improvements will also be made. Let's hope for a thorough job this time. Furthermore, the study directors and department heads informed about what is going on in each area. For a more complete picture of the meeting, I recommend reading the minutes:   https://arbetsplats.slu.se/sites/kv/Delade%20dokument/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fsites%2Fkv%2FDelade%20dokument%2FProtokoll%2FLedningsgrupp%2FLedningsgruppsprotokoll%202019&FolderCTID=0x012000D3134C6D68AA9443BBCFE96CFD3749DE&View=%7BCBABEA16%2D24D7%2D4B67%2D8FBF%2DD39DD070036F%7D

On Friday we had the last meeting of the year for environmental issues at KV and from that meeting it is important for everyone to know that KV's safety representative for KVlab and offices is Haleh Yazdan Panah (lab) and for house 3 and other practical premises, Desirée Karlsson. Minutes from these meetings can be found on KV's internal website, but Friday's minutes are not there yet. On Friday afternoon, Maria Engedahl and I presented the basics for the collaboration project "Together" (see appendix, in Swedish), followed by a joint Christmas dinner at the Norrland nation. I had a really good afternoon and evening and wish to thank everyone who contributed to that!

Below are the week's collected information points:

  • Newsletter from the Grants Office, which includes information about the SSF Agenda 2030 Research Centers (ARC) on Future Advanced Technology for Sustainability and information on opportunities for collaboration with universities in ”the Eastern Partnership”.
  • Reminder - Registration of 2019 publications no later than January 15, 2020
  • On Thursday (5/12), 13:15, Jean-Baptiste Ndahetuyes defends his thesis "Mastitis in dairy cows in Rwanda: characterization, prevalence, aetiology, antimicrobial resistance, molecular epidemiology and effects on milk quality" in Audhumbla.

Next week I'm on site every day!

Best regards,

Nils
