Professor Jens Häggström awarded by the World Small Animal Veterinary Association

Jens Häggström, Professor at the Department of Clinical Sciences and Heart Specialist at the University Animal Hospital, receives an international award for his research.

The citation reads as follows:
"Jens Häggström has been affirmed by the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) Executive Board as the recipient of the 2017 WSAVA International Award for Scientific Achievement. This award is based on outstanding contributions by a veterinarian who has had a significant impact on the advancement of knowledge concerning the cause, detection, cure and/or control of disorders of companion animals".

WSAVA is a worldwide organization that includes just over 100 other veterinary organizations. In this way, they represent around 200,000 veterinarians worldwide. The aim is to develop the knowledge about healthcare for our pets.

Jens Häggström has performed cardiac research on dogs and cats for over 25 years and in late 2016 he was able to publish the results of an international study that became a world sensation. Read more here. Jens receives the award in September this year in during the WSAVA World Congress. We are extremely proud to have Jens here at SLU and this award is further proof that SLU is a world-class University .
