Tommy Mörling
I work with research and teaching dealing with silviculture and forest growth and yield. Research activities focuson effects of silvicultural measures and genetics on tree and stand developement including wood formation and wood properties. I am also assistand head of department and director of studies with responsibility for undergradute courses at the department.

Teaching

I teach on basic and advanced level courses in the Master of Forestry programme (Jägmästarprogrammet) at the faculty and is course organizer for two courses: Silviculture and Forest management planning (15 credits) and BSc in Forest Science (15 credits).

Research

My research interest is effects of external factors (such as wind, water, nutrient, etc), silvculture and genetics on tree and stand growth both in terms in volume and biomass and i terms of wood properties (wood density, fibre dimensions, heartwood formation, etc). I have worked with x-ray microdensitometry and automatic fibre analysers to evaluate effects of genetic improvement, PCT, thinning and fertilisation in Scots pine and Norway spruce. I am also interested in developing models for growth and wood formation based on tree physiology and biomecanics.
