Social media

Last changed: 08 October 2025

Social media has become an essential channel for communication and dialogue with society. It provides opportunities to connect with diverse audiences, and as a university, SLU has an important role to play in this evolving landscape.

Before you start using social media, we recommend that you read:

Official responsibility

As representatives of a public authority, we must always act in accordance with the laws and regulations that apply. Social media is no exception. Comments should not be deleted but may be hidden if the platform allows it, and any hidden or deleted comments must be documented with screenshots.

Things to keep in mind

When communicating on behalf of SLU, always act correctly, politely and respectfully. Short messages in social media can easily sound harsher than intended, especially in discussions with differing opinions. If you receive a negative or inaccurate comment, respond factually and neutrally – and remember that your reply will be seen by many others.

Content and communication

Content on SLU’s social media channels must follow the university’s guidelines for text, language, images and video. Shared links should always be reliable and relevant, as they form part of SLU’s communication — even when the content itself is not created by SLU.
