Wikipedia
SLU encourages researchers to contribute to Wikipedia. There is great value in sharing your knowledge where people are already looking for information. SLU’s research becomes more visible – and Wikipedia becomes a more reliable source. A smart way to contribute is to reuse material from press releases or fact sheets, giving them new life.
Getting started with Wikipedia
If you are a doctoral student, researcher, analyst or perhaps emeritus, your knowledge can help others learn something new or gain deeper insight into a subject. It’s not difficult to get started!
The first step is to create a user account. If you want to show your connection to SLU, there are templates available for this purpose. Using a template also makes the sender clear. Contact us at wikipedia@slu.se for guidance.
Note: You cannot change your username once the account is created. Your email address is used only for password recovery.
Tips for getting started
- Search for your topic — often there is already an article you can contribute to.
- Reuse text from press releases or fact sheets written in clear, accessible language.
Add a citation to the scientific article on which the text is based, including the DOI if available. - Doctoral students have a great opportunity to contribute after completing their dissertations.
Blogs
SLU’s previous blog platform in WordPress is no longer in use. A new blog-like feature will be developed on slu.se. For questions about earlier blogs, contact webbredaktionen@slu.se.
