Flying goose.

If you are a doctoral student and wish to travel abroad as part of your studies, you now once again have the opportunity to apply for a travel grant to support the internationalisation of doctoral education. There is also an opportunity for researchers who have completed their PhD to apply for funding for certain internationalisation activities, provided that no more than two years have passed since the PhD was awarded.

  • Doctoral students may apply for grants for short- or long-term study visits, participation in international doctoral courses, and for conferences or workshops.

  • Each doctoral student may receive a maximum of 2 grants during their doctoral studies and 1 additional grant within two years after completing their PhD. N.B. From the autumn call 2026 onwards, the rules will change so that each doctoral student may be awarded a maximum of one grant. This is to ensure that as many students as possible have the opportunity to spend time abroad.

Travel grants for travel outside Sweden may be applied for by doctoral students at SLU and, in certain cases, by researchers at SLU who obtained their PhD no more than two years before the application deadline. Applications from doctoral students are generally given priority.

More information about the current call is available via the button above. Please read the instructions carefully for the category of activities you plan to apply for.

The application deadline for the spring call is 8 March. The activity for which you are applying for funding must take place after 30 April.

Good luck with your application!
