New security features are linked to sensitivity labels

Published: 08 October 2026

Sensitivity labels have been enabled for all SLU employees and affiliates since September 14th. This allows users to classify the sensitivity of information directly in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

The next step in Informationssäkerhetslyftet (the Information Security Initiative) is to supplement the labels with security features that help us handle sensitive information properly. These features will be based on the information’s sensitivity label and can, for example:

  • warn or stop the user when information is at risk of being sent or shared incorrectly
  • prevent particularly sensitive files from being stored in Teams, OneDrive, or SharePoint
  • prevent particularly sensitive information from being used in Copilot

The purpose is not to control how employees work, but to provide practical support that reduces the risk of unintentional mistakes. The focus is to prevent sensitive information from ending up with the wrong recipient, being stored in the wrong place, or being used inappropriately.

We hope that the work of sensitivity labelling has gotten underway in your organizations. Proper classification is essential for security functions to provide the right support and protection.

As in the past, managers will be invited to an Infostuga on November 12th (in Swedish), where we’ll demonstrate how the functions are intended to work and what they may mean for your operations. If you haven’t registered yet, please do so via the link Registration for Infostugor. Please note that if you have already registered for a previous Infostuga (held on September 10th), you do not need to register again.

Compiled information is available at Information Security for SLU in Microsoft 365.
