New vision and new goals för campus development in Alnarp

Published: 13 December 2024

The revision of the campus plan for Alnarp is progressing steadily. A new vision and four overarching goals for campus development have now been approved by SLU's overall steering group for campus development projects. The next step involves translating the vision and goals into concrete ideas and proposals.

Campus Alnarp is embarking on an exciting development journey with the aim of becoming an even more inspiring and sustainable hub of knowledge. As part of the campus plan revision, a new vision and four overarching goals have been defined:

Vision *

Campus Alnarp – a green knowledge hub in a dynamic and learning landscape, paving the way towards a sustainable society.

Goals

  1. Ensure the long-term needs of core activities.
  2. Develop the landscape, park environment, and buildings to interact within an excellent environment for education, research, and innovation.
  3. Enhance the campus as an inspiring and educational meeting place that sets an example for the wider world.
  4. Complement the campus with functions and activities that align with the vision, contributing to a safe and attractive space.

The vision and goals have been developed through workshops with leadership teams and further refined in project and reference groups.

“The vision and goals are an important step in guiding campus development. We now have a clear picture of what we want to achieve: a green and sustainable campus that is both inspiring and functional. The next step is to realise this through design and proposed actions,” says Sara Kyrö Wissler, SLU's project leader for campus development in Alnarp.

The next phase of the process focuses on design, where ideas and proposals to achieve the goals will be developed. Supporting material for this work comes from analyses carried out during the autumn. Through thematic meetings, interviews, and surveys, several development needs have been identified and will now be further refined. These include water management, encompassing both irrigation and stormwater solutions, campus safety, and the design of the road network as the train stop and the Western Node take shape.

The new campus plan is expected to be completed by spring 2025.
