”We need to be more confident”

At the faculty board meeting on 14 September, the new VH strategy was presented. There is agreement on the content, and the strategy is more or less finalised. However, it needs to be a tad more “confident” as one of the board members put it. So, let’s try to “toughen up”.
Our subject fields are hot and the wind is in our favour. This became evident not least at the Farm to Fork (F2F) thematic consultation forum arranged by the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation at the end of August. The state secretary in particular emphasised the role of animals in a sustainable food system. He pointed out that Sweden is doing well when it comes to animal health and welfare as well as the level of antibiotics use.
We are now waiting for the SLU Board to adopt the new SLU strategy before we can adopt our own. We still need to draft an operational plan, and this will be a task for the faculty board at its October meeting.
