News from Head of Department, week 38

Published: 21 September 2020

KV's super Friday is over !!

Today has been a great day for Elin Gertzell och Daniel Bergman! A real super Friday for KV! Both have in a praiseworthy way defended their respective dissertations today. A nice proof that the department is able to produce high-quality science. Many thanks and congratulations to Elin and Daniel, but also the main supervisors Magdalena and Bodil and all assistant supervisors!

Furthermore, we have reason to congratulate Patricia Simoes on having passed her diplomat exam for the European College of Bovine Health Management. Impressive - congratulations!

This week, the DKU council, whose overall task is to support the vice chancellor regarding decisions about UDS 'activities. At the meeting, the status of the joint project, UDS 'finances and work environment issues at UDS were raised. In connection with this, attention was also paid to the conditions for KV's clinical staff when they are active at UDS. An important issue that will return to the agenda! Another important issue in our collaboration with UDS, which has been on the agenda since late spring, is strategic recruitments at UDS. For some time now, UDS has needed to recruit a number of business-critical positions. Ideally, a manager of the small animal clinic should be recruited in a first step so that he/she can recruit the vacant managerial positions. As the recruitment of the head of the small animal clinic is restarted right now and given that it will probably take at least four months, probably twice as long, before we have such a head in place, the common assessment is that it cannot wait to recruit a head veterinarian (veterinärchef) and head of care / surgery at the small animal clinic. These positions, together with the anesthesiologist, will be recruited quickly and in dialogue with KV.

In other respects, the week has revolved around the introduction of the new medical record system, where the IM clinic has been running for a few weeks. On Tuesday, there was a meeting with the steering group for the change of system, where future introductions and data transfers were discussed. The project remains within its budget and that is of course the goal.

The upcoming week includes, among other things, meetings with the clinical management group for KV-UDS and with Kvs management group.

During week 39, I will be on site Monday, Thursday and Friday.

I wish you all a very nice weekend!

Nils
