Since the first of July 2020, the SLU Centre for Biological Control, CBC, has a new Director. Johan Stenberg, Professor at the Department of Plant Protection Biology takes over after Mattias Jonsson.

Johan Stenberg was previously Deputy Director of CBC. At CBC, Johan investigates how the properties of crops and the genetic diversity of crops can be optimized to benefit predatory organisms in plant crops.

Mattias Jonsson from the Department of Ecology has been Director during 2019 and the spring term 2020. Now, Mattias has been awarded a senior lecturer position and will therefore resign as Director. He will however continue to be an important part of CBC.

- I look forward to putting extra focus on biological control now during the UN's International year of plant protection 2020. Through CBC, we will continue to involve and support all SLU researchers who work with biological control. This is important work and we aim for SLU to be among the world-leading universities in the area, says Johan.

CBC also receives a new Deputy Director; Magnus belongs to the Department of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology and his research focuses on fungal interactions in relation to plant pathology and biological disease control.
