News from Head of Department, week 49

Published: 09 December 2020

Happy 2:nd Advent!

Another week to celebrate a new grant - congratulations to Ulf Emanuelson who brought home research funding from Lantmännen. Furthermore, I can announce that KV have two strong candidates for the principal's career contribution, Ingrid Ljungvall and Jonas Wensman! We keep our fingers crossed that you go all the way!

The week began with a joint clinical management group followed by ‘prefektråd’, where the faculty's directors of studies were invited, where we largely discussed the Covid-19 situation. We also discussed how we should increase the research volume and the faculty's and departments' strategy work.

On Tuesday, the head of Department of Medical Sciences, Uppsala University, and the VH faculty's research secretary visited KV's strategic council, a meeting that was devoted to the question of how we can increase external research funding.

On Thursday, we conducted a budget dialogue with the faculty management, which was a good meeting where we gained understanding of our perspectives and support for our activities. The week ended with the last meeting of the year with the tillsammans-project management team, where we once again discussed responsibilities and goals for our joint clinical activities.

Next week, a digital KV-info awaits on Tuesday at 12:15, where we have teaching questions, the new graduate school and a short budget presentation on the agenda. Furthermore, there will be a reconciliation of the teaching situation with VMF, a meeting on the new journal system

And most important, the dissertation of Elin Manell. With the new principal's decision made yesterday, there will be an event for a maximum of 8 people present, but there will also be a public stream of the dissertation. Good luck Elin!

The ‘wage movement’ is approacheing the next step as the central agreements are closed. At SLU, local discussions are now taking place with the university administration and the trade unions. When these are ready, I will receive more information (preliminary 16/12) and the process can hopefully move on to salary talks 2 (salary proposal) in January.

During week 50, I will be on duty every day.

I wish you a nice weekend!

Nils
