Alnarp Campus Development: Plans for 2020–2021

Published: 23 November 2020

Alnarp Campus development is a complex process. It aims to transform Alnarp into a dynamic arena in which the university and external parties can collaborate to address future societal issues and questions. The physical environment and operations are vital in order for the arena’s vision and objectives to be met.

The development work is a collaboration with Lomma Municipality and Akademiska Hus, led by SLU.

Autumn 2020 and spring 2021

Throughout autumn 2020 and spring 2021, LTV Faculty Management will pave the way for pilot studies that will form the basis of the construction of new SLU facilities in Alnarp. Discussions will also address which of the existing buildings and premises will continue to be used, as well as the long-term development of the physical environment of the Alnarp campus. The aim is that by June 2021, the foundations for continuing the process will have been firmly established.

Inspirational lectures are being planned for the end of 2020 and the beginning of next year. The lectures will be followed by a series of workshops in the spring that will focus on the more concrete questions. The discussions will be a matter of strategy, and intend to elaborate on the principles that will be behind the pilot studies. The inspirational lectures and workshops are aimed at operations managers and student representatives. Email invitations will be sent out in due course.

Schedule:

  • Project plan for quality principles for new premises and the physical environment at SLU Alnarp, decision by the dean, December 2020
  • Start of pilot study, summer 2021
  • Construction start 2024

The new SLU premises in Alnarp will become a symbol of the university’s activities in the area and will provide creative environments where meetings can be easily conducted.
