Published: 03 December 2018

Join in and set your impact in the food industry! On Friday the 15th of March we launch the 5th annual Food Hack. New friends, lots of fun and food and tough challenges!

The Food Hack is a 48hour long innovation competition and food conference for the global food community initiated by Krinova & the research council for sustainable development – Formas. This year’s theme is “A Healthier Planet” we set out in association with Formas, research council for sustainable development, to tackle challenges related to the sustainable development goals defined by the United Nations in their Agenda 2030.

Food Hackers will work in teams

Food and the food system design play a vital role in fulfilling these goals to ensure access to food, water, and renewable energy while preserving ecosystems, biodiversity, and stable and equal societies. Hackers will work in teams to set up projects boosted by the latest research and experienced mentors. All in the spirit of challenge driven open innovation!

SLU student won prize

The SLU student Filippa Isaksson participated recently in a similar innovation competition within the framework of the EU project Nutriflow. Her team developed a prototype for a self-propelled wheelbarrow to facilitate cleaning of stables as well as an education and certification concept. The aim was to reduce leaking of plant nutrient to the Baltic Sea.

It was 24 intense hours with little sleep but many exciting ideas. Exchange between different students and universities made the project very rewarding. It was interesting to see how different things people were knowledgeable in and how well it worked in a group. The cooperation and exchange in the group was probably the most fun when we all contributed different perspectives and knowledge, says Filippa Isaksson.
