Postdoc in Wildlife Health

Published: 05 November 2018

Available position at the Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Environmental Studies, SLU

The Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Environmental Studies, SLU, Umeå, is looking for a postdoc in the BiodivERsA-project WILDHEALTH - How does environmental biodiversity affect wildlife health? We will test the hypothesis that environmental biodiversity has a positive effect on wildlife health by combining state-of-the-art genomics methods, molecular biology and bioinformatics, with community ecology, empirical data and field experiments. In particular, we study the role of the microbiome in health of mammals (bank voles Myodes glareolus, moose Alces alces) inhabiting forests that experience contrasting human impacts. The approach will also enable us to study and potentially identify ecological drivers of zoonotic risk. The project will be performed in collaboration with members of the project consortium in Finland and USA.
