Kristina Osbjer

I have a background in research and development in zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance and veterinary public health with a focus on low and middle income countries.

Presentation

I have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from SLU from 2006 and a PhD on Zoonotic Diseases from SLU, 2016. I have worked as a veterinary clinician and with transboundary, foodborne and zoonotic diseases and antimicrobial resistance for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations  in Lao PDR, Cambodia and the regional office for Eastern Africa.  I am since 2019 back at SLU working on a multi-sectoral project on piloting on-site interventions for reducing antimicrobial use in livestock farming in emerging economies and with tasks for SLU Global on strengthening the internal and external collaborations on antimicrobial resistance.

Research

I carry out research on antimicrobial resistance in livestock production in Southeast Asia including a jpiamr funded multi-sectorial project on interventions for reducing antimicrobial use in pig farming in northern Thailand. Reasearch collaborations with: Uppsala University, ETH Zurich, The Norwegian Veterinary Institute, Khon kaen University, International Livestock Research Institute and the National Animal Health and Production Research Institute in Cambodia.
