Hannes Keck

Hannes Keck
Hannes is a PhD student studying greenhouse gas fluxes from agricultural ecosystems. Hannes' research focuses on developing and testing a relaxed eddy accumulation (REA) system to measure continuous carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, methane and water vapour fluxes at field scale. The combination of micrometeorological methods, manual chamber measurements as well as footprint analysis will help us understand the spatial and temporal heterogeneity of greenhouse gas fluxes from drained peatlands and how driving variables influence these patterns.

Background

Education

Sept. 2014 - Sept. 2016: European Master in Environmental Sciences (EnvEuro). University of Copenhagen and Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Specialisation: soil resources and land use.

MSc thesis: Imaging the 3-D distribution of cation adsorption sites in undisturbed soil.

Oct. 2010 - Aug. 2013: BSc in Agricultural Sciences. Justus Liebig University of Giessen, Germany.

BSc thesis: Water repellency of biological soil crusts in a sand-dune ecosystem of the NW Negev, Israel and its influence on surface runoff.

Work experience

Previously, I worked in the field of soil science and soil physics at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Research Institute of Organic Acricuture (FiBL) in Switzerland and Justus Liebig University of Giessen in Germany.
