SIANI annual meeting

Man in forest

We are excited to welcome you to the SIANI Annual Meeting 2021. This year we will not be able to meet as usual, so instead we will be opening the event up to even more participants online between the 27 – 29 January 2021. We hope this will be an opportunity to connect, share ideas, knowledge and experiences to forward the discussions on inclusive and sustainable food systems transformation.

Each day of the SIANI Annual Meeting 2021 will have a different theme as outlined below. Please note that this year you will have to register to each separate event. We hope to see you in all of them.

Making food systems sustainable and inclusive
Wednesday, 27 January, 09:30 – 12:00 CET

The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged and interrupted today’s food systems. The hardest hit are the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people. How to power your agriculture and food security work with impactful communication?
Thursday, 28th January, 09:30 – 12:00 CET

If we want to create resilient, equitable and sustainable food systems, communication is key. But how do we deliver impact with communication in an inclusive and engaging way? This workshop will provide a framework for approaching your communications strategy and the tools for building your outreach with examples from real life. The participants will also get the opportunity to receive personal feedback on communication efforts from communications professionals, as well as exchange ideas on how to best communicate to support a food systems transformation that is inclusive and sustainable.

Promoting youth in food systems – today and tomorrow
Friday, 29th January, 09:30 – 11:30 CET

As the food systems discussions kick off during 2021 and the beginning of the end of COVID-19 is getting closer, the enormous challenges and threats from climate change and environmental degradation are intensifying. The global community’s actions to create sustainable food systems and to fight climate change during 2021 will have long-lasting effects, not least for youth and future generations. This is the starting point for this seminar that asks: How do we ensure youth’s future role in food systems? How can we ensure that youth are central in the transformation towards more sustainable and resilient food systems? And what are the challenges that youth engaged in food systems experience today?
