The faculty board devoted a large part of the meeting to discussing how the faculty should allocate funding for infrastructure, co-financing of externally funded projects and other important purposes. The board also discussed subject areas and senior academic appointments.
New subject area
The faculty board decided to establish a subject area in business administration focusing on strategy, business development and value chains at the Department of Economics. The subject area will be headed by Professor Christina Öberg.
Recruitment matters
The faculty board decided to recruit an associate senior lecturer in biogeochemistry and climatology, at the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment. The recruitment is part of the Swedish Research Council's initiative to support the recruitment of Associate Senior Lecturers.
Other initiatives
The board decided to continue funding the two networks SLU Plant Protection and SLU Plant Breeding and Animal Breeding, which are run jointly with other faculties.
SLU Water Forum will also continue to receive funding. It is a water research network initiated and supported by the NJ Faculty for many years.
The board also decided to extend its initiative to provide support for statistical consultations, a service offered by a group of statisticians at the Department of Energy and Technology.
In addition, the board approved revised guidelines for funding conferences with international participants or a clear focus on collaboration. The board also approved an increase in the level of funding.
Revised remit for the Committee for Global Development
The board decided on a partially revised remit for the Committee for Global Development. The Committee has been tasked by the faculty board with contributing to the development of the faculty's research, education and environmental assessment in collaboration with partners in the Global South.
