Information session on the Microsoft 365 Migration Project
You are welcome to participate in open information sessions regarding M365 on three occassions (Oct, Nov, Dec).
You can find each occassion in the calendar on the staff web.
The milestone for email and SharePoint clean-up on 1 September has now been passed. The project has moved forward with the migration of SharePoint, while migration plans and solutions for the organisation's email migration are being developed. Additionally, sensitivity labels have been enabled across our Microsoft tools to strengthen information protection.
The transition to Microsoft 365 is now underway and will continue progressively over the coming months. The next step is to work closely with departments and operational units to validate requirements, plan implementations, and develop timelines for upcoming migrations. Any secure solutions required outside of Microsoft 365 must be in place before the relevant department or unit can be migrated.
Below, we provide more detailed information about what has already been completed, what will happen next, and how departments and units across the university can contribute to support a smooth and successful migration.
As of Week 39, 34 sites from arbetsplats.slu.se have been migrated to SharePoint Online, which is a component of Microsoft 365. This represents roughly one-third of the approximately 100 main sites included in the migration.
Since the summer, the project has been working to identify the prerequisites required for departments and units that handle sensitive or confidential information to migrate to Microsoft 365 securely.
Three priority areas have been identified:
The project's steering committee has now decided to implement the system SEFOS for secure communication and to expand the use of TOPdesk for case management. SEFOS is a tool similar to email that makes it possible to send secure messages containing sensitive information. TOPDesk is a system currently used at SLU for, among other things, IT and payroll issues, and it can be expanded to handle both cases for students and staff.
Since September 14th, sensitivity labels have been enabled in Outlook (e-mail), Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for all employees and affiliates at SLU.
These labels help you classify and protect information according to its level of sensitivity and protection requirements.
When creating or sharing information, you should select the label that best reflects the sensitivity of the content. During the autumn, additional security features will be linked to the labels to further strengthen information protection.
