The second faculty board meeting of the year has taken place. The following items were addressed:
Programme offering
Each year, the faculty boards have the opportunity to comment on the programme offering proposed by the Education Board to the Vice-Chancellor. The NJ Faculty Board made the same assessment as the Programme Board, namely that no changes should be made to the programme offering for the 2027/28 academic year.
Appointments
- Maria Westerholm was appointed alternate member of the Programme Board for the period up to 31 March 2028. She is based at the Department of Molecular Sciences.
- Professor Jesper Larsson, Department of Urban and Rural Development, was appointed acting Vice-Dean with responsibility for doctoral education.
- The board decided to propose to the Vice-Chancellor that Malin Strand, SLU Swedish Species Information Centre (SLU Artdatabanken), be appointed member of the Board for Appointing Senior Environmental Assessment Specialists (NSM). Rebecca Whitlock, Department of Aquatic Resources, is proposed as her personal alternate.
Recruitment matters
The board decided to initiate several recruitment processes:
- Two senior lecturers: one in agricultural digitalisation at the Department of Energy and Technology and one in organic chemistry at the Department of Molecular Sciences. These positions are important for both teaching and research at the respective departments.
- One senior lecturer in food biotechnology at the Department of Molecular Sciences. This recruitment forms part of a long-term initiative to secure expertise in the food area.
- One professor in organic environmental chemistry, ahead of an upcoming retirement. This field is based at the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment and includes research on, among other things, PFAS and related environmental contaminants.
- A further, more complex recruitment matter concerns an associate senior lecturer within a national initiative by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW) in data-driven life science. The position may be placed at several different departments across both the NJ and S faculties. The faculty board decided that the deans concerned will jointly determine which academic appointments board will handle the applications.
