Recruitment of a new head of department at SLU Aqua

The process now begins with the very important task of recruiting a new Head of Department to SLU Aqua.

We have now formed a nomination group consisting of 13 people. The starting point has been that the group should have as broad a base as possible in our various branches of activity and reflect all parts of SLU Aqua's organization.

The group's task is to jointly analyze the overall needs of the department. With these needs as a basis, a competence profile will be developed that will form the basis for attracting candidates for nomination to become the next head of department of SLU Aqua. The work will continue during the spring, when there will be several opportunities for all employees to take part in the process and later also get to know the candidate or candidates who are nominated. 

This is what the recruitment process looks like

  1. The Dean instructs the Head of Department at SLU Aqua to start recruiting a new Head of Department.
  2. The Head of Department appoints Per-Olof Larsson to lead a nomination group with broad support in the organization.
  3. The Head of Department appoints a nomination group, after consultation with the SLU Aqua management team.
  4. The nomination group discusses the department's situation and needs and prepares proposals for a competence profile.
  5. The nomination group meets with the dean to discuss the documentation produced.
  6. The nomination group explores with the department's staff and develops proposals for candidates.
  7. The nomination group meets the dean for reconciliation. If external recruitment is considered desirable, it may be handled in special order.
  8. The nomination group obtains further information through e.g. interviews, hearings, advisory vote.
  9. The nomination group meets the dean and presents orally and in writing its proposal(s) for a new head of department and how the nomination work has been carried out.
  10. The dean meets and interviews the nominee(s) prior to any decision on the assignment as head of department.
  11. The dean makes a decision after MBL on the assignment as head of department.

The decision should be made no later than April 30, 2025 (can be later if more time is needed).
