SLU Future One Health has recently launched a new brochure highlighting a selection of the research being conducted within One Health at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). The brochure provides a comprehensive overview of how SLU works to improve the health of both humans and animals, as well as to promote plant health and sustainable ecosystems.
One Health is an interdisciplinary research area focusing on the interaction between animal, human and plant health in sustainable ecosystems. By integrating knowledge from various scientific disciplines, SLU aims to find solutions to complex health challenges. The brochure highlights several important research areas: food safety, infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, sustainable food production, and environmentally friendly farming systems.

"Our research in One Health is crucial for understanding and addressing the global health challenges we face. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, we can develop sustainable solutions that promote both our environment and the health of humans and animals," says Elisabeth Rajala, researcher and coordinator for SLU Future One Health and one of the brochure's authors.
"It is important to highlight our expertise in One Health because almost all of SLU's research interests are connected to this area in one way or another. Many of our researchers do not realise that they contribute to One Health, and our goal is to enhance that understanding and, through various initiatives, foster internal collaboration. At the same time, we also want to present SLU's research and expertise externally to research funders and policymakers. The brochure is part of this effort, and although it is not exhaustive, we are proud to have produced an informative and easy-to-read brochure that effectively captures the breadth of SLU's One Health expertise," Elisabeth says.
