News from the VH faculty board June 14

Recruitments

The committee decided to initiate the following recruitments.

• Professor of Bioinformatics,
• Professor of Animal Genetics with a focus on breeding work,
• Professor of Molecular Animal Genetics,
• University Lecturer in Animal Breeding with a focus on sustainable animal production.

Regarding the recruitments of professors, the Vice-Chancellor must first approve them. All of these positions are for the Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics.

Updates

Dean Rauni Niskanen provided information on the status of the major projects underway at the faculty.

Botanical inventory à la Linnaeus

Collaboration Coordinator Mariette Manktelow from the Planning Department exposed the Faculty Board and employees to some exercises in the pastures at Lövsta. They acted as Linnaeus' disciples and collected plants as it was done when the "Flower King" himself went on excursions with the students. Once the collection was done, Mariette went through many of the collected plants and said their names in Latin. This was the first biological inventory conducted in the area, said Mariette.
