After a long absence due to the pandemic, it’s time to announce another round of projects granted funds from the SLU Climate Fund. This year, 12 projects were selected.
Purchase of bikes (Carina Sándor, School for Forest Management)
Justification: A relatively simple measure that creates better opportunities for environmentally friendly transport.
Purchase of HVO for cars used in field work (Cornelia Roberge, Umeå)
Justification: A relatively simple measure that creates better opportunities for environmentally friendly transport.
Purchase of two electric cargo bikes (Georg Carlsson, Lomma)
Justification: A relatively simple measure that creates better opportunities for environmentally friendly transport.
Purchase of an electric van (Johannes Albertsson, Lomma)
Justification: A relatively simple measure that creates better opportunities for environmentally friendly transport.
Purchase of a sprayer drone (Ryan Davidson, Lomma)
Justification: A project that leads to increased efficiency and has positive climate effects.
Purchase of a robot lawn mower (Alexandra Nikolic, Alnarp)
Justification: A project that reduces carbon dioxide emissions and is highly visible on campus. The lawn mower will be used during the day on the highly frequented lawn areas between the castle and Sundsvägen, usually cut with a riding lawn mower. This should reduce the risk of for example hedgehogs and other animals being injured, as well as to reduced impact on biodiversity compared to other mowing methods.
Anaesthetic gas for horses (Karl Ljungvall, Uppsala)
Justification: An innovative project with links to both research and teaching.
Purchase of an electric car for the Vindeln experimental forests (Johan Westin, Vindeln)
Justification: A relatively simple measure that creates better opportunities for environmentally friendly transport.
Purchase of an electric car (Ola Langvall, Siljansfors experimental forest, Mora)
Justification: A relatively simple measure that creates better opportunities for environmentally friendly transport.
Purchase of an electric car for Asa research station (Mikael Andersson, Asa)
Justification: A relatively simple measure that creates better opportunities for environmentally friendly transport.
Mobile bike service (David Ljungberg, Uppsala)
Justification: A project that encourages environmentally friendly transport, aimed at students and staff and visible on campus. The project should investigate whether the business aspect in any way collides with SLU activities and guidelines.
Planning tool for R/V Svea (Lars Thorell, Uppsala)
Justification: The project has considerable potential to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from Svea and would, according to the funding application, pay for itself in less than 4 months, making it a priority. Funding is allocated to launch the project/a pilot study.
