On November 1, Mårten Hetta took up his new assignment as development manager for barn operations at VH. The assignment is newly established and a function in the new organization at the faculty. The goal of the assignment is to improve collaboration across department and faculty boundaries, in addition to promoting relations with stakeholders outside SLU.

Congratulations on a new and exciting assignment. Tell us more about what you are supposed to do.

- I see that there are two parts that we should mainly work on. One is to make our animal facilities visible and their important role in research, teaching, and cooperation so that they become a stronger partition and of the organization Sweden's food strategy. The second is that we have a new organization that will continue to develop, where I will have overall responsibility and lead the barn operation forward together with the staff.

What's the first thing to grab?

- Learn to work in the new organizational structure! Find forms of cooperation and create the conditions for the business to develop further in both locations.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

- On a personal level, I am very much looking forward to getting to know all new people and new businesses. Lövsta is so much more than just animals in stables - there are so many exciting activities I want to learn more about. I look forward to taking a holistic approach and creating even better conditions for us to be able to conduct research and teaching with our farm animals.

If you have ideas and thoughts about how we should work and how we can get the business to develop more - please get in touch. I look forward to participating in these because even if we are to stick to the line organization, everyone should still feel free to raise ideas, thoughts, and reflections.

How should you post the job? Will you be commuting a lot?

- I will travel a lot, be present in the organization, and represent VH externally. I am currently extra curious about the activities in the stables and all the employees and environments that are new to me. My starting point in the work is the office in Umeå, but I will be available in the business.
