New press officer on site

Published: 13 May 2022

SLU's new press manager Erika Troeng has now started her job. Erika most recently worked at Kooperativa Förbundet (KF), but her career has been marked by work in the corridors of power at the Government Offices and at the Swedish Riksdag.

Erika has had different roles, but common to the positions has been press issues, communication and public opinion.

- Working at the Government Offices is a luxury and you are in a fantastic, knowledge-intensive environment. You become very humble in the faceing of how complex our society is. There are experts in almost all areas, but it is also very, very intense, says Erika.

In her work at KF, Erika came into contact with SLU in various contexts related to food, such as Future Food, and Erika felt that SLU has a strong position and is highly respected within the food sector.

- It is useful to change perspectives sometimes. So with my interest, previous experiences and my image of SLU, it was an easy decision to apply for the position. I hope to add proactivity to media issues. To be one step ahead. I also have a slight penchant for crisis communication, although of course I hope and will do my very best to prevent crises from occurring.

Briefly about Erika

  • 35 years
  • Born and raised in Kiruna
  • Family: Husband and two children (2 and 4 years)
  • Interests: training (mostly running), books and being out in nature
  • Another advantage of working at SLU: I do not have to commute to Solna and live close to SLU at Ultuna. I thought I would run to work sometimes, but then I'll need to take a detour if it's going to be any good training.
