GCUA 2030 welcomes new member!

Published: 23 February 2022

GCUA 2030 is happy to announce a new member to the network, Dalarna University.

During the General Assembly-meeting in December, the represented members voted unanimously to let Dalarna University be a member of the GCUA 2030 network.

Dalarna University is a young and vibrant Swedish university which currently is developing several interesting doctoral programmes. Sustainable development is a central part of the university's strategy and it permeates both research and education, not least in the doctoral programmes.

Becoming a member of the GCUA 2030 will strengthen our doctoral students 'and supervisors' opportunities to participate in international exchanges on important issues concerning various dimensions of sustainability. This in turn means that we can strengthen our doctoral programmes when it comes to issues related to sustainability and the sustainable development goals, says Jörgen Elbe, pro-vice-chancellor at Dalarna University.

Dalarna University also has good opportunities to contribute to the work within GCUA 2030. This is especially true in the area of web-based teaching, where the university has extensive experience of developing new pedagogical approaches.

A clear example of this is the training of midwifery teachers that we conduct at a distance in both Somaliland and Bangladesh. These efforts have meant that more midwives have been able to be trained in these countries, says professor Fatumo Osman at Dalarna University.
