The GCUA 2030 coordinator Elisabeth Rajala will finish her assignment within GCUA 2030 in the end of the year. We welcome Paul Egan as new coordinator for the alliance.

– It has truly been a privilege to work with colleagues from around the world to develop and deliver high quality activities aimed at better equipping our graduate students to better contribute to sustainable development. I am proud that we have been able to carry out this work using almost exclusively digital tools and it has been fantastic to follow so many PhD students and see them develop both as researchers and on a personal level, says Elisabeth.

– I am now handing over the role of coordinator to focus more on my work in the One Health area and I know that our new coordinator Paul Egan will continue to develop an even stronger GCUA 2030. However, I am not leaving GCUA completely and will continue as a mentor in the mentoring programme and also be involved in some other GCUA 2030 activities. Finally I would like to wish all of you good health, prosperity and happiness in the New Year!

Paul Egan will take the role after Elisabeth as GCUA 2030 coordinator and he looks forward to help develop the alliance further. Paul knows GCUA 2030 well and has since last year been responsible for the course package and also been mentor in the mentoring programme.

– The coming year will certainly be an active one for GCUA 2030. I particularly look forward to continued interactions between partners; whether between course participants coming together in virtual classrooms, or as part of the exciting new Climate Action Challenge initiative – and at the institutional level, as we continue to lay foundations for GCUA in its next phase, says Paul.

The appointment of a new coordinator will not change the work GCUA does and we will continue as planned, delivering high quality activities in line with our mission to contribute to sustainable global development.
