The combination of digital transformation and collaborations with stakeholders, farmers, poduction leaders and practicioners as well as external partners has led to successful development within agriculture in Vietnam.
Digital transformation in all sectors has been key priority for the Vietnamese government. In agriculture particularly, ministry departments at all levels have been driving efforts to boost digitalisation of the sector with the expectation of achieving a sustainable agricultural production system. In this context, sharing knowledge and experience with researchers within the AgriFoSe2030 challenge 3 project on digital extension services is valuable to the development. Through meetings, trainings and workshops, hundreds of farmers, extension practitioners, agricultural production leaders and policy makers, have participated in this research project. The research project, which is in its early stages, is already creating impact and is being recognised and highly appreciated by different stakeholders in central provinces of Vietnam.
On 8 October 2022, the research project leader, Associate Prof. Dr. Le Thi Hoa Sen, successfully organised a workshop on "Digital transformation in agricultural extension: Opportunities, challenges and solutions". The workshop was attended by leaders of the provincial department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and leaders of provincial agricultural extension centers from five provinces in central Vietnam, including Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam and Da Nang. Also in attendance were representatives of related departments of agricultural service centers, provincial farmers' association, scientists from agricultural universities and research institutions.
