Status report from SLU Future One Health

Published: 27 October 2021

At the last faculty board meeting, program manager Susanna Sternberg Lewerin was invited to give a status report on SLU Future One Health. Here is Susanna's report in short.

SLU Future One Health is one of SLU's four future platforms with the task of promoting interdisciplinary research and collaboration in the area of One Health. It includes most health aspects in the interaction between animals, humans and the environment.

Based on a workshop with SLU researchers at the beginning of the year, the platform has focused on activities to support SLU researchers who want to create interdisciplinary research collaborations and projects within SLU and in external collaborations. Activities with this focus have included internal workshops, announcement of funds to strengthen major interdisciplinary applications, and communication support. The platform has organized webinars and produced reports where projects that have previously received support have been presented.

In collaboration with SLU Global and other future platforms, a series of so-called climate dialogues has been initiated. (Here is the link to the upcoming climate dialogue, which will be held on 3 November.) Further collaboration in the area of interdisciplinarity and utilization of research results is planned in the future.

During the summer, the platform conducted one of SLU's two digital seminars during Almedalen Week, focusing on antibiotic resistance. In addition, communication efforts were made to draw attention to International Rabies Day (September 28). Similar efforts will be made ahead of Antibiotic Awareness Week (November 18-24).

On the platform's website, visitors will be able to find projects and publications by SLU researchers in the field of One Health, and contacts for research collaborations. Completed and planned activities are also described on the website.
