SLU's Environmental Monitoring and Assessment programs Forest and Climate announces development aid

Published: 16 December 2019

SLU's Environmental Monitoring and Assessment (EMA) programs Forest and Climate, coordinated by the Faculty of Forest Sciences (S-faculty), announce funding for projects aimed at developing methods or data applications, the development of EMA and/or contributions to the requested decision-making basis for different stakeholders.

At SLU there is broad competence, extensive databases and well-developed contact net to different stakeholders and their needs. Through this call, the Faculty wishes to encourage new applications in the Environmental Monitoring and Assessment (EMA) area and increase cooperation both within SLU and to different stakeholders. It is an advantage if the results from the projects that are granted funding can lead to future external assignments regarding environmental monitoring related to the environmental objectives for Forest and Climate.

The applications will be presented and discussed with the external reference groups of the programs, after which the EMA board of the S-faculty will submit a proposal for a decision to the Dean. The discussions with the reference group is in itself of great value, as it contributes to a dialogue about the development and focus of SLU's environmental analysis.

The maximum amount per application is 250 000 kr. The announced project funds comprise 500 000 kr for Forest (corresponding to 2-3 projects) and 500 000 kr for Climate (corresponding to 2-3 projects) and are announced as a one-time budget in 2020. Parts of the funds may, however, be available in 2021, if special reasons for an extension exist. Preliminary reporting of the projects will take place in November 2020 in SLU's reporting system. In addition, the project should include a popular scientific publication of the results. Scientific publications of the results are encouraged, but should be done outside the funding of the projects.

The application form is summarized in the digital form that you can access at Sharepoint.

The form should be opened in the Internet Explorer browser for full functionality. In case of technical problems with the form, please contact Mikaela.Asplund@slu.se.

The closing date of this call is the 29th of February 2020. Decisions are expected to be announced on April 1, 2020. In case of late or no delivery, the Faculty may withdraw funds.
