SLU days to inspire and engage

Published: 12 June 2017

SLU is turning 40 – a cause for celebration. Among other things, we will commemorate this by hosting a ‘staff day’ at our main campuses in Alnarp, Umeå and Uppsala.

The programme enables you to learn a lot of interesting things about our operations. On the day, lectures will be given with subsequent panel discussions.

“40 years may not be the greatest number for a university, but it’s absolutely important that we celebrate. Being able to gather all employees for a few days is a great opportunity to highlight the important role SLU plays, both historically and in the future. And all staff members, whether you are a researcher, administrator or veterinary nurse, contribute to making SLU one of the best universities in the world,” says Lena Andersson-Eklund, project manager for SLU’s 40th anniversary.

On 1 July, 1977, three university colleges merged and created the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Peter Högberg, Vice-Chancellor, wants to highlight the university’s important work. But future issues are equally important.

“We have accomplished many great things during these past 40 years. But we also face great challenges – digital development, is one of them. During the SLU days, we will be able to listen, reflect and discuss what digitalisation means for us as a university, but also for us as employees,” says Peter Högberg.
