European pesticide risk assessment relies heavily on a limited set of standard test organisms – but what about the many other organisms exposed to pesticides? Alina Koch tells us more!
In this talk, researcher Alina Koch introduces two research projects investigating pesticide risks to wild pollinators and aquatic fungi, and explore what we may miss by overlooking these less-studied organisms. The examples highlight the need for improved risk assessment that considers a wider range of species and, ultimately, the diversity and functions of ecosystems.
Alina Koch is a researcher at the Centre for Pesticides in the Environment (CKB) at SLU. Her work combines analytical chemistry and ecology to study effects of pesticides in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems in Sweden.
