Scientific illustration: images in the service of transmission

Are you interested in scientific illustrations? Then don’t miss this seminar with Sacha Berna from the University of Caen Normandy.

Sacha Berna, a scientific illustrator from France, is visiting the Department of Ecology for two weeks. She has worked with, for example, Minh-Xuan Truong, who is studying the audience for the slow TV show Den stora älgvandringen (The Great Moose Migration).

What is the seminar about?

At the intersection of art, design, and science, scientific illustration is a creative process with the aim of making a given subject accessible and understandable for a specific audience.

This may take place in a wide range of scientific fields, for a wide range of purposes, thanks to a great variety of approaches possible in the creation of scientific images.

This will be demonstrated through a cross-disciplinary exploration of history, contemporary issues, methodology, and personal practice within an academic context.

By doing so, the seminar also aims to stimulate discussion about the circulation of knowledge.
