In the third of our AI skills development seminars for educators, we will look at how generative AI tools are reshaping academic practice, raising questions about integrity, authorship, and ethical boundaries. As genAI becomes more accessible and capable, we need to re-evaluate guidelines regarding their appropriate use and how this interacts with the critical skills we expect students to develop (including the skill to use AI).
In this seminar, I will introduce some of the key ethical considerations surrounding genAI in teaching and learning contexts, and start a broader conversation about how we can best support our students, given that we still don’t know the full impact on student learning. I will also present a number of practical approaches to thinking about academic integrity in the classroom and how you can establish clear guidelines for you and your students.
Matthew Low, Project leader (AI for educators) and Researcher at the Department of Ecology.
The seminar is conducted via Zoom, in English and no fee.
