Seminar: Climate smart agriculture from different perspectives

Please be welcome to the second Crop Production Ecology Seminar after summer Tuesday 24 September 14:30-16:00. We have some distinguished guests visiting for the PhD Dissertation of Sandra Makaita Madamombe, who will share and discuss some of their research on:

  • Advancing climate risk assessments of cropping systems, Heidi Webber
  • Climate adaptation strategies and infrastructure for enhancing resilience in sub-Saharan Africa, Amos Ngwira
  • Engagement with the lake Victoria basin commission to develop a program to support the increase of climate security across the region, Michael Hauser
  • Development of salt tolerance in soil microbial communities after long time saline irrigation, Åsgeir R. Almås

Heidi Webber is Professor of Integrated Crop Systems and Modelling, Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg & the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF), Müncheberg, Germany

Amos Ngwira is Senior Specialist – Systems Agronomist at AGRA-Sustainably Growing Africa’s Food Systems, Nairobi, Kenya

Michael Hauser is Associate Professor of Development Research, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna, Austria

Åsgeir R Almås is Professor of Soil Science, Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), Ås, Norway
